Correction: Australian Office / Edwards Dunlop Product Updates

This is an important correction to the information provided yesterday. Please disregard the previous post/email and use the information below instead.

Australian Paper logo

Starting this week, Office Brands has updated the supplier data on a number of paper items that have changed from Edwards Dunlop to Australian Paper.

BJ Ball (BJBALL) is a separate business entity to Edward Dunlop (EDWDUN) and Australian Office (AUSOFF). So outstanding amounts you owe to those companies on supplier open items are not to move. You will have to pay EDWDUN and AUSOFF as usual. You will just start paying BJBALL for any stock you buy from them. All three supplier cards above may carry 60 day terms, and there may be remaining open items on all of them, until you pay them off.

Warning: Do not merge the suppliers until after you have paid all supplier open items for EDWDUN and/or AUSOFF. All that happens is that Office Brands will start to mark products as coming from a different primary supplier.

Readysell 8

You should make sure you have an active supplier of BJBALL on your system. That is probably all you have to do.

When you load catalogues manually or if you have automatic product updates turned on. Readysell will update the product supplier for most products:

  • Check to see if your system set for automatic product file updates from Office Brands. If this feature is on the system should manage this change for you.
  • Otherwise manually load the most receipt corporate catalogue. This will update the primary suppliers on most of your products.
  • Take care of one thing. Products that have not been specifically flagged to ignore updates to the primary supplier will automatically change from the current supplier to BJBALL where appropriate. If you have check the box “Ignore Supplier” on any of those products, you will need to change the primary supplier on the product manually or untick the “Ignore Supplier” checkbox.

Readysell 7

Readysell 7 does not automatically change supplier codes on your existing products when Office Brands changes the supplier code. To change the supplier you must use the “change one field” button from browse cataloges in the price change module.

Warning: If you do not want to change all suppliers, you have to create a query wizard when you process the “change one field” button. The query wizard can limit the changes to just the suppliers you want to get rid of. If you do not do this properly, all your supplier codes will change to line up with Office Brands. We suggest you try this procedure on test before you do it on live.

Please see the document “How to update supplier codes on products to agree to Office Brands supplier codes” on the Readysell Support Centre.

Important changes to stock allocation

We have made some changes to stock allocation to prevent occasional errors that occurred when stock that had been shipped was reallocated.

Previously, stock remained allocated on sale order lines, even when a shipment had been released. Now, stock allocated on sale orders and sale shipments will clear as soon as a sale shipment is in progress for that sale order line.

The reason for this change is that there could be a mix up between stock allocated on sale orders and stock on sale shipments. Now if stock is shipped it no longer shows as allocated. When stock is shipped, the quantity allocated is cleared and appears in the quantity shipped column instead. The percent fully allocated for the line goes to zero. See worked example below.

When order is placed:

  • Sale order quantity 10
  • Quantity allocated 8
  • Quantity on shipments 0
  • Quantity on back order 2

When sale shipment for 8 is released:

  • Sale order quantity 10
  • Quantity allocated 0
  • Quantity on shipments 8
  • Quantity on back order 2

The most obvious changes are:

  1. The quantity fully allocated may go to zero for a sale order when the sale has a shipment, even if the shipment is not posted
  2. The quantity allocated on a sale order line may go to zero when the sale order line has a shipment

Readysell 8.36: Faster than lightning

What? Already you say? Yes, we know it’s only been 2 weeks, but Readysell 8.36 is now rolling out to all of our Readysell 8 customers. In this release we continue our focus on making it easier for you to use Readysell and putting valuable business insights at your fingertips. And don’t worry, we’re not done yet. You can look forward to similar improvements in the releases to follow.

Readysell 8.36: Identify and target areas for improvement with actionable metricsIdentify and target areas to improve with actionable metrics

We’ve recently compiled a number of key metrics that each dealer can use to gauge how their business is performing against similar dealers in the Office Brands group. In this release, we’re putting a number of those metrics at your fingertips by showing them on the Management Dashboard. We’ve colour coded each metric so you can spot if you’re falling behind, and you can even double click to get some advice on how to improve.

Quickly identify dead stock and lapsed/inactive customers

Clearing out dead stock and re-engaging lapsed or inactive customers are two key ways you can use the data in your system to improve the profitability of your business. To make things easier, we’ve added tailored view variants for these key scenarios. On the product list view, select the “Dead Stock” variant and on the card list view, select the “Customer Lapsed and Inactive” variant to get started.

Readysell 8.36: Navigate around effectively and never miss a detail with our latest UI tweaksNavigate around effectively and never miss a detail with our latest UI tweaks

We’ve observed that some of the most effective users of Readysell customise the user interface of their system to help them constantly improve their data and business processes. We are collaborating with these users to distil their changes into improvements that apply to and can be distributed to all Readysell users. In this release, we’ve started integrating some of these changes. You’ll notice that we’ve moved some tabs around based on common usage, we’re highlighting certain fields for emphasis and we’ve added colour-coding where it makes sense. We’ve done our best to merge these changes with any existing customistations you have, but in some cases your customisations may be lost. If that’s the case, you may need to re-create your customisations. We promise it will be worth it. We’d love to hear your feedback as we continue to make improvements in this area going forward.
